Giovanni Paolucci, Emilio Marsili, and Valentino Orsini are three highly talented Italian directors that began their career in the Italian film world with some documentaries, before throwing themselves into the production of full-length films.
Steel among the Olive-trees shows the birth of the pipe-factory in Taranto, the first element of the steelworks Italsider built in southern Italy. Through an effectual retrospective documentation, the steelworks takes shape and from a skeletal metallic structure turns into a huge steal-and-glass building, where, in its interior, are put big plants. The different stages of working are then described in detail, from the arrival of the sheets to the final product. Steel on the Sea is directed by Valentino Orsini, recently dead, mainly known as a committed profession in the film industry.
