Awareness that universe extends well beyond the confines of the Milky Way, the galaxy in which our solar system is located, is a scientific conquest of the twentieth century. As technological progress has gradually supplied astronomers with increasingly powerful instruments of observation, it has in fact been discovered that groups of galaxies exist, cluster with thousands of components and structures that are even more vast. Today we know that various types in exist, with different shapes, that range from simple ellipses to spiralling-type forms. There are young galaxies and auciently formed ones, that are considered true astronomic fossils.
Within them it is possible to observe stars that are born and stars that die, gas and interstellar dust.
But when did galaxies form? And how? And in what way have their characteristics changed over time?
The documentary explores a theme that is as fascinating as it is mysterious: conditional replies are given and new questions arise thanks to an incredible reconstruction.
