Using electronic microscope colour images and 3D computer graphics, Cannibal mites explores the world of these parasites on a microscopic scale. Blown by the wind, the members of this family, which includes more than half a million species, have colonized most of the environments on our planet. They can be found in the soil, under water, in the air, ad of course in our everyday environment.
Although some, such as ticks, are vectors of diseases, others can be very useful. For instance, predatory mites replace pesticides and are worth their weight in gold, while others play a secret role in manufacturing of some particularly esteemed traditional cheeses.
